ConstitutionDAO (PEOPLE) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The unlock chart above provides a clear visual overview of the ConstitutionDAO (PEOPLE) token release schedule, showing when and how tokens enter circulation across investor, team, treasury, and community allocations. Understanding these tokenomics dynamics is critical for evaluating potential supply pressure, inflation impact, and market liquidity over time — key factors that can influence PEOPLE price performance.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.
Tokenomics & Utility
Economic Model and Distribution
The token’s distribution was straightforward: an ETH‑denominated crowdfund set the supply, with 1 ETH creating 1,000,000 PEOPLE. Because contributors could later burn PEOPLE to redeem ETH at the same rate, redemptions gradually reduced the circulating amount. In other words, supply became slightly deflationary over time as some holders chose to exit via the refund contract. (constitutiondao.info)
Present‑Day Utility
ConstitutionDAO’s core team clarified that PEOPLE has no rights or governance within the defunct project. Today, the token’s utility is community‑driven. PeopleDAO uses PEOPLE to govern its own proposals and reward contributors in its separate ecosystem, while others treat PEOPLE as a cultural or meme token tied to the story of the 2021 bid. ConstitutionDAO did not endorse these later uses. (constitutiondao.com)
Assumptions
- Issuance modeled as linear over 2021-11-13 to 2021-11-19.
Contributions (and thus token minting) occurred continuously during the short crowdfund window; monthly granularity is required and a linear approximation reflects this period.
- Total supply value reflects widely cited on-chain/exchange reporting as of access time.
Official pages document the 1,000,000 PEOPLE per 1 ETH policy and burn-based redemption but do not publish a canonical total minted figure; Etherscan/CMC figures are used as the best available estimate and may fluctuate downward over time due to ongoing burns.
- No team/investor/treasury allocations or ongoing emissions exist.
Core team used Juicebox to mint PEOPLE only to contributors (1,000,000 PEOPLE per 1 ETH); after winding down, redemptions burn PEOPLE and ownership of the token contract was relinquished; there are no staking, mining, or inflation mechanisms.

Description
#520
ConstitutionDAO was a decentralized autonomous organization that aimed to purchase an original copy of the U.S. Constitution. Despite raising over $47 million from more than 17,000 donors, the DAO failed to win the auction and subsequently disbanded, refunding donations. Its governance token, PEOPLE, allowed holders to vote on decisions within the DAO and continues to trade as a symbol of the project.
