Ronin (RON)
Unlock Schedule
Ronin (RON) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The unlock chart above provides a clear visual overview of the Ronin (RON) token release schedule, showing when and how tokens enter circulation across investor, team, treasury, and community allocations. Understanding these tokenomics dynamics is critical for evaluating potential supply pressure, inflation impact, and market liquidity over time — key factors that can influence RON price performance.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.
Tokenomics & Utility
Supply and distribution
RON has a fixed maximum supply of 1,000,000,000. The distribution aligns with “Ronin tokenomics” aimed at long-term network growth:
- 30% Sky Mavis
- 30% Community incentives
- 25% Staking rewards
- 15% Ecosystem fund
Unlocks are scheduled over roughly 108 months (nine years), with tokens unlocking continuously rather than in quarterly cliffs. This design funds builders and validators while spreading token availability over time. (docs.roninchain.com)
Utility in the network
RON is used to:
- Pay gas fees for all transactions on the Ronin blockchain.
- Secure the chain via staking and delegation; validators and delegators earn RON rewards.
- Participate in community governance as the ecosystem opens further.
Because RON is the gas token, every swap on Katana, every mint on Mavis Market, and every on-chain game action ultimately ties back to RON demand. The Ronin Treasury also accrues protocol fees—such as a portion of Katana’s swap fees (e.g., 0.05% of the 0.3% tier), marketplace fees, and a share of RNS (.ron) name sales—which connects real network activity to long-term treasury resources. What can influence RON price over time?
While this page doesn’t track live data, it’s useful to note general drivers that can affect RON price: growth in active games and players, fees generated on Katana and Mavis Market, staking participation, validator yields, and treasury mechanics. As more users mint NFTs, trade in-game tokens, and bridge assets, on-chain demand and treasury fee flows become part of how the market values the RON token. (docs.roninchain.com)
Assumptions
- PoS staking rewards begin after DPoS mainnet launch and follow the 8-year schedule.
Ronin migrated to DPoS in April 2023; official Rewards docs and blog specify 180M RON over 8 years with declining annual budgets.
- Bridge Operator Rewards are modeled linearly across 8 years.
Official post commits 8M RON over 8 years and 1M in Year 1 but does not specify exact per-year splits beyond Y1; linear modeling provides monthly granularity.
- Liquidity mining emissions total 62M RON and end 2025-05-30.
The 25% Rewards bucket is 250M; subtracting 180M staking and 8M bridge leaves 62M for other reward programs (primarily Katana LP incentives). Official posts confirm program existence, changing rates, and sunset date; modeled linearly from TGE to sunset.
- Community, Sky Mavis, and Ecosystem Fund unlocks are implemented as continuous monthly unlocks with an initial TGE cliff.
Official tokenomics page notes continuous unlocking; the table shows quarterly snapshots but not discrete quarterly cliffs in practice.
- Total supply is capped at 1,000,000,000 RON.
Confirmed by official docs and support pages.
- Circulating supply definition changed on 2025-01-27 without altering the unlock schedule.
Tokens moved from genesis multisigs to dedicated multisigs; unlocked tokens in staking/LP contracts now counted as circulating; no change to max supply or unlock plan.
