LimeWire (LMWR) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.
Tokenomics & Utility
Supply and distribution
LimeWire created one billion LMWR at launch. Its original distribution plan set aside 43% for the ecosystem, 18% for the team, 12% for a private sale, 10% for a public token sale, 8% for a strategic round, 5% for liquidity provision, and 4% for advisers. Within the ecosystem allocation, the plan assigned portions to an artist fund, community rewards, and a treasury. Those figures describe the initial allocation plan, rather than a promise that every program will keep the same form over time. (lmwr.com)
LimeWire later removed tokens from supply through burn programs. Its tokenomics page reported a total supply of 633,045,269 LMWR as of July 2024. A burn permanently takes tokens out of circulation under the project’s supply accounting. It changes the amount of LMWR that exists; it does not, by itself, describe how often people use the platform. (lmwr.com)
The token’s clearest roles are payment and rewards. LimeWire lists LMWR as a supported way to acquire vouchers for certain platform services, including AI-related functions. For LimeWire Network, the stated model has storage users paying in LMWR and infrastructure operators earning it. The project has also used LMWR in activity rewards and separate staking programs. LimeWire’s listed Web3 staking pools are marked closed, so those past pools are best understood as part of the token’s history. (limewire.com)
Assumptions
LimeWire minted one billion LMWR and later reduced the reported total to 633,045,269 through burns; those burns are not releases. The chart can show the initial mint, the reported May 2023 Originals airdrop and month-level estimates for several investor, team and treasury vesting schedules. Public-sale quantities, reward payouts, treasury spending and portions affected by burns lack a fully verified payment history, so their budgets remain visible without invented releases. Issuance, unlocks and distributions represent different views of the same tokens and should be charted separately.
- Community Rewards and staking fund: The original schedule was changed and the new timing is not yet published.
- Community, activity and staking reward payouts: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- LMWR Staking Pool #1 reward pool: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- LMWR Staking Pool #2 reward pool: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- LMWR Staking Pool #3 reward pool: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- LMWR Staking Pool #4 reward pool: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- Treasury grants and ecosystem spending: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Advisors: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- Public and community token sales: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
