IRISnet (IRIS) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.
Tokenomics & Utility
IRIS began with an initial supply of 2 billion tokens. The project’s published genesis allocation set aside 25% for a private sale, 15% for the Bianjie development team, 10% for the Tendermint development team, 15% for the IRIS Foundation, 30% for ecosystem development, and 5% for a Cosmos Hub airdrop. The plan included vesting periods for the two development teams. These figures describe the initial distribution, rather than a fixed limit on future supply. (github.com)
New IRIS can be issued as staking rewards. The network’s minting documentation describes an annual inflation rate that governance can change. Rewards and transaction fees support validators and delegators, giving participants an incentive to keep the chain running. Because issuance continues under the network’s rules, readers should understand the original 2 billion as a starting amount. (irisnet.org)
The token has several practical roles. It secures the Hub when staked, pays for transactions, and supports participation in governance. IRISnet’s service design also uses IRIS for service fees. Governance proposals can address network settings and upgrades, so bonded holders have a way to influence how the system develops. These uses tie the token to the network’s daily operation as well as its longer-term direction. (irisnet.org)
Assumptions
IRISnet began with a two-billion-token mint allocated to investors, developer teams, the foundation, ecosystem development and an intended Cosmos Hub airdrop. The teams have published monthly vesting terms, while PoS rewards create additional IRIS; much of the other allocation and grant spending has no verified payment dates. The chart shows the initial mint, estimated placement of team installments, a documented 2024 community-pool transfer and estimated growth between later net-supply observations. Earlier gross staking issuance and the complete burn history remain unknown, so the chart cannot fully reconcile to total supply.
- Private sale — 25% of initial supply: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- IRIS Foundation operations — 15% of initial supply: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Ecosystem development — 30% of initial supply: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Eco-development funds community-management plan: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Foundation delegator double-rewards campaign: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- 2024 ecosystem grants fund reservation: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- Cosmos Hub airdrop — 5% of initial supply: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- PoS validator and delegator inflation rewards: New issuance depends on network activity, such as staking, so it cannot be dated in advance.

Allocations
Parts of this allocation with their own release dates are charted as their own allocations; the chart shows the rest here.
Not yet scheduled: 713,813,018.848 tokens of its parts have no release date yet. The chart shows them as TBD from today, not as unlocked.
Description
#11204
IRISnet is a blockchain network that facilitates communication and data transfer between disparate blockchains using Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC). It acts as a 'bridge' or 'interpreter', enabling different blockchains and their applications to interact, share data, and unlock new functionalities, thus serving as an interchain service hub.
