IoTeX (IOTX) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.
Tokenomics & Utility
Supply and original distribution
IOTX has a stated maximum supply of 10 billion tokens. IoTeX’s original allocation set aside portions for the foundation, private-sale participants, the team, community rewards, and the wider ecosystem. The ecosystem allocation included tokens reserved for network rewards. These categories explain how the project first planned to fund development and encourage participation; they are separate from the token’s day-to-day uses on the live network. (docs.iotex.io)
What IOTX does
The token has several connected roles. People pay IOTX when they send transactions or run smart contracts. Delegates and token holders use it in staking and delegate elections, tying network operation to token-based participation. IoTeX has also used a Burn-Drop program linked to device registration: part of its allocated tokens are burned, meaning they are removed from use, while another part is distributed to eligible stakers. The network’s fee design includes a base fee that is burned. (docs.iotex.io)
IoTeX 2.0 extends the token’s role toward device identity and infrastructure services. Its design links IOTX to registering device credentials and to services that connect or process device data. These uses aim to give the token a purpose wherever a DePIN project relies on IoTeX’s shared tools. The details of newer modules and incentive programs depend on how those services are put into use. Assumptions
IoTeX originally allocated 10 billion IOTX across investors, the team, its foundation, ecosystem programs, community rewards and a reserve for delegate rewards. The published investor timetable and an approximate foundation timetable support dated unlocks, while team vesting, staking-reward payouts, grants and DAO spending cannot be fully dated or quantified from the reviewed sources. The Get GOATed Season 2 reward budget became claimable in February 2025, but the amount ultimately claimed is not established. The chart can show the documented creation and supported unlock dates; estimated foundation payments must be labeled, and nested budgets and burns must not be added as new supply.
- Private sale — 24% of original allocation: The original schedule was changed and the new timing is not yet published.
- IoTeX Foundation — 25% of original allocation: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Team — 15% of original allocation: The original schedule was changed and the new timing is not yet published.
- Ecosystem Fund — 18% of original allocation: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Halo Grants — Ecosystem Fund subset: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- Burn-Drop program — Ecosystem Fund subset: New issuance depends on network activity, such as staking, so it cannot be dated in advance.
- Marshall DAO — proposed Burn-Drop reallocation: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Community Rewards — 6% of original allocation: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Roll-DPoS delegate and staking rewards — 12% original reserve: New issuance depends on network activity, such as staking, so it cannot be dated in advance.
- Roll-DPoS delegate and staking rewards — 12% original reserve: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
