Hivemapper (HONEY)
Unlock Schedule
Hivemapper (HONEY) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.

Supply and allocation
HONEY has a stated maximum supply of 10 billion tokens. The network’s published allocation sets aside 40% for contributor rewards, 20% for investors, 20% for employees, 15% for Hivemapper Inc., and 5% for the Hivemapper Foundation. Contributor tokens are released as the map makes progress, rather than all at once. The calculation considers progress across regions, including whether roads remain covered and active over time. (docs.hivemapper.com)
HONEY’s central uses are rewarding eligible network contributions and obtaining Map Credits. Developers use Map Credits to pay for network access. The credits are generated by burning HONEY—a process that removes tokens from circulation. Under the network’s published burn-and-mint rules, 75% of HONEY redeemed for credits is permanently burned. The remaining 25% can be issued again as Map Consumption Rewards for contributors, subject to a weekly limit. (docs.hivemapper.com)
There is an important distinction between network rewards and rewards offered through the Bee App. In July 2026, Bee Maps announced that USDC would become the app’s default reward in August. It also announced the removal of Phantom and Breeze wallet connections for HONEY rewards from that app. HONEY remains the token described in Hivemapper’s network rules for Map Credits and eligible network rewards, while Bee Maps funds its USDC app rewards directly. Understanding which service is paying a contributor matters when reading about how rewards work. (beemaps.com)
Assumptions
Hivemapper documents a ten-billion-HONEY maximum, including four billion reserved for progress-dependent weekly rewards and allocations for investors, employees, Hivemapper Inc. and the Foundation. Investor and employee transfer restrictions have published monthly dates; Foundation bounties, grants and liquidity incentives are identified separately without counting them as new supply. The chart can show estimated launch creation and restriction releases, plus an estimated interpolation of the supplied later total-supply figures. Early minting, gross consumption remints, cumulative burns and many treasury payment dates remain unresolved, so the chart cannot reconcile gross tokens created to total supply.
- Hivemapper Inc. — R&D and operations, 15%: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Hivemapper Foundation — growth and management, 5%: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Global Map Progress contributor rewards — 40%: New issuance depends on network activity, such as staking, so it cannot be dated in advance.
- Map Consumption Rewards and customer-funded Bursts: New issuance depends on network activity, such as staking, so it cannot be dated in advance.
- Region-based staking share of weekly rewards: New issuance depends on network activity, such as staking, so it cannot be dated in advance.
- MIP-2 seven targeted mapping bounties: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- MIP-9 Data Fund — annual analyst grants: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- MIP-18 Kamino liquidity-vault incentives: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- MIP-18 Kamino liquidity-vault incentives: The original schedule was changed and the new timing is not yet published.
- MIP-3 Foundation-funded AI Trainer bounty: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- Open Road Season 1: Trailblazers special airdrop: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- MIP-7 first-time-mapped Foundation bonus: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
