CANTO (CANTO) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.

What CANTO does
CANTO has three main roles: it pays network gas fees, can be staked with validators, and gives stakers a voice in governance. Gas is the cost of processing an action, such as sending a token or using a smart contract. Staking helps validators secure the network and can earn additional CANTO. Stakers can vote on proposals, including decisions that affect network settings and shared infrastructure. (docs.canto.io)
Canto’s genesis allocation began with one billion CANTO. Of that amount, 13% went to initial contributors and 2% to participants in the launch testnet program. The remaining allocation set aside 45% for long-term liquidity mining, 35% for medium-term liquidity mining, and 5% for public-goods grants. Liquidity mining distributes tokens to participants who provide assets to selected DeFi activities. These figures describe the original allocation, rather than a fixed account of later distributions. (docs.canto.io)
The economic model also provides for new tokens to reward stakers. Canto’s documentation describes an inflation rate intended to decrease over time, with governance able to adjust emissions. When a user unstakes CANTO, the documented unbonding period is 21 days. That period is part of how the proof-of-stake system handles changes in delegated tokens. (docs.canto.io)
CANTO is distinct from NOTE, the network’s unit-of-account token. It is also distinct from wCANTO, an ERC-20 wrapper that allows the native coin to work with token-based smart contracts on Canto. Keeping those roles separate makes the ecosystem easier to understand: CANTO supports the chain, NOTE serves lending and payment-related uses, and wCANTO is a contract-friendly form of the native asset. (docs.canto.io)
Assumptions
Canto created one billion tokens at launch in August 2022, including the contributor and Settlers allocations counted in its initial circulating supply. Its liquidity-mining and public-goods budgets remain subject to governance, and a separately advertised hackathon prize pool has no established payment dates or identified funding allocation. Staking has increased on-chain supply, but the chart can only estimate when that increase occurred between the documented launch amount and an explorer reading on October 1, 2026; intermediate annual supply observations and cumulative burns remain unverified. Contract Secured Revenue redistributes existing tokens rather than creating new ones.
- Medium-Term Liquidity Mining: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Long-Term Liquidity Mining: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Future Public Goods Grants: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Canto Online Hackathon Chapter 2, Season 1 Rewards Pool: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- PoS Validator and Staker Rewards: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- Contract Secured Revenue Fee Distribution: New issuance depends on network activity, such as staking, so it cannot be dated in advance.

Allocations
Parts of this allocation with their own release dates are charted as their own allocations; the chart shows the rest here.
Not yet scheduled: 484,127,725.92 tokens of its parts have no release date yet. The chart shows them as TBD from today, not as unlocked.
Estimated from the last observation onward: about 60,440 per day (1,839,630 per month), the rate between the observations of August 2022 and October 2026.
