Astar (ASTR)
Unlock Schedule
Astar (ASTR) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
As of October 17, 2026, 8.81 billion of the 10 billion ASTR (88.08%) have been released. The schedule is ongoing, with no final release date. Over the next 12 months it releases 296.53 million ASTR (all estimated) from Network Staking, dApp, Collator and Treasury Rewards, worth about $1.86 million at today's price (3.37% of the market cap). Today's release is an estimated 849,669 ASTR from Network Staking, dApp, Collator and Treasury Rewards.
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.
Tokenomics & Utility
Supply and rewards
ASTR began with an initial supply of 7 billion tokens. At launch, allocations included users and early supporters, the Polkadot parachain auction, protocol development, early backers, the team and the foundation. New tokens have also been issued as network rewards. This approach funds participants who operate the chain, stake tokens and build eligible applications. (docs.astar.network)
Astar activated its Tokenomics 3.0 model in March 2026 through on-chain votes. It lowered the maximum yearly inflation rate from 7% to 5.5% and introduced a small decline in the number of tokens issued with each block. Under that schedule, total issuance approaches roughly 10 billion ASTR over the long term. The amount actually issued can be below the yearly maximum because part of the staker reward pool grows or shrinks with participation. (docs.astar.network)
The model divides potential new issuance among several uses. Base staker rewards receive 15.8% of the allocation and an adjustable staker pool receives 63%. Eligible dApps receive 13%, the treasury 5%, and collators 3.2%. These percentages describe shares of the token issuance pool, rather than guaranteed returns to any holder. A portion of transaction fees is also burned, permanently removing those tokens from supply. (docs.astar.network)
What ASTR does
ASTR’s everyday role on Astar Network is paying for transactions, such as sending tokens or using a contract. Holders can also vote on proposals about network settings, treasury spending and dApp staking. They may lock tokens to support eligible applications through dApp staking, which distributes rewards to stakers and qualifying app teams. On Soneium, ASTR has uses in Astar-linked consumer and DeFi products. (docs.astar.network)

Values at $0.006 per ASTR (October 17, 2026), today's price, not a forecast. Releases continue after September 2027. Estimated amounts are modeled from the schedule's rules rather than dated by a source; see the Assumptions below. Releases without dates are listed under Allocations.
Assumptions
Astar began with a 7-billion-ASTR genesis allocation; its documented TGE tranches are charted, while much of the remaining original vesting has known broad durations but no sourced payment amounts by date. Network rewards add ASTR continuously, and the chart estimates their historical growth from dated supply figures; future rewards remain dependent on staking and other network activity despite the approximately 10-billion long-run ceiling. The ACS campaign separately shows an estimated progression across its claim window, based on the reported amount claimed, without treating existing treasury tokens as new issuance. Burns, especially the unreleased 350-million-ASTR parachain reserve, are recorded separately rather than subtracted from a gross release series.

Description
#424
Astar Network is a multi-chain smart contract platform that runs on Polkadot. It allows developers to use Ethereum, WebAssembly, and ZK Rollups to create dApps that can communicate across different blockchains and virtual machines. Astar also rewards developers for their code and dApps through a unique Build2Earn model.
