Aleph Zero (AZERO) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.
Tokenomics & Utility
AZERO is the coin used for fees on Aleph Zero’s layer 1. A user needs it to send a transaction or interact with a smart contract. It also gives holders a way to participate in network security: validators stake coins while operating nodes, and nominators stake coins to support validators they select. Both roles can receive staking rewards under the network’s rules. (docs.alephzero.org)
The network began with an initial allocation of 300 million AZERO. Its early distribution included pre-seed and seed contributors, an early community round, a public presale, and a public sale. Those groups had different release schedules, which determined when their coins became available. (alephzero.org)
The coin’s issuance rules changed after a community vote in 2024. The adopted model sets a maximum supply of 520 million AZERO and reduces the number of newly issued coins over time. It took effect on October 14, 2024. Under the model, 90% of new issuance goes toward staking rewards and 10% goes to an ecosystem fund. That means issuance supports both the people securing the chain and work intended to develop it. (docs.alephzero.org)
Assumptions
Aleph Zero began with a reported 300 million AZERO at mainnet launch, allocated across investor rounds, the public sale, the Foundation and the team; several rounds and the team had vesting terms. Staking rewards and an ecosystem treasury share subsequently created new tokens, first under a 30-million-per-year policy and then under a capped, decreasing policy introduced in October 2024. The chart can show the documented launch releases and estimated portions of the emission and vesting history, but the presale split, Foundation spending, later inflation amounts and some era-level history remain unresolved. A dated current total supply and cumulative burns were not verified, so the chart cannot be reconciled to a research-date supply figure.
- Early Community — approximately 5% of initial supply: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Public presale — approximately 18.33% of initial supply: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Foundation genesis allocation — approximately 23.33% of initial supply: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.
- PoS validator and nominator issuance — 90% of inflation: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- PoS validator and nominator issuance — 90% of inflation: Emission continues with no published future rate or end date.
- Ecosystem and community treasury — 10% of inflation: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Ecosystem and community treasury — 10% of inflation: Emission continues with no published future rate or end date.

Allocations
Parts of this allocation with their own release dates are charted as their own allocations; the chart shows the rest here.
Not yet scheduled: 101,693,186.858 tokens of its parts have no release date yet. The chart shows them as TBD from today, not as unlocked.
