The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. Tokenomics & Utility
A fixed supply with several roles
RARE is an ERC-20 token with a stated total supply of one billion tokens. Its original allocation was 40% to the community treasury, 25.5% to the SuperRare Labs team, 15% to a retroactive airdrop for early artists and collectors, 14.5% to investors, and 5% to strategic partners and future contributors. The original plan included vesting periods for treasury, team, and investor allocations, spreading their release over time. (docs.superrare.com)
Governance is the token’s central role. RARE holders can vote on qualifying proposals, including votes connected to Spaces and the use of community resources. Proposals move through a governance process before a token-holder vote. This gives artists, collectors, and other holders a formal way to express preferences about parts of the network. RARE can also be used as a payment currency for supported artwork sales. For example, SuperRare’s digital-edition tools list ETH, RARE, and USDC as possible currencies for a primary sale. Through Rare Protocol, people can stake RARE toward artists, collectors, or curators as a public signal of support. That curation activity can connect participants to protocol rewards under its rules. Marketplace fees, meanwhile, flow to the DAO community treasury; holding RARE and taking part in governance are different from receiving an automatic share of each sale. (help.superrare.com)
Assumptions
SuperRare's published one-billion-RARE distribution assigns tokens to an airdrop, the community treasury, the team, investors, and strategic partners. The chart can show the airdrop claim opening, the treasury's launch and monthly vesting, and the investors' cliff and monthly vesting; inferred calendar months are estimates. Team release amounts, individual strategic awards, and payments from governance-controlled grant budgets remain undated, so those budgets are recorded without inventing payments. The original tokens were created by launch; later unlocks and treasury transfers do not create additional RARE.
