Origin Protocol (OGN)
-
Origin Protocol’s recent jump appears to have been driven by a sharp increase in trading activity and bullish trader momentum. However, the available recent reports identify no specific news or project event as the catalyst, so the exact cause is unclear.

Unlock Schedule
Origin Protocol (OGN) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.
Tokenomics & Utility
OGN, xOGN, and protocol fees
OGN is an ERC-20 token used for governance and participation in Origin’s fee-distribution system. A holder can lock OGN in the staking contract for a period ranging from about one month to one year. The locked position is represented by xOGN, which carries voting power and receives staking rewards. Both the amount locked and the chosen lock period affect the position’s weight. Origin’s staking guide describes xOGN as non-transferable; it also explains that an early exit is possible with a penalty tied to the time left on the lock. (docs.originprotocol.com)
Origin’s products collect fees from the yield they generate. Under a governance change introduced in 2025, net protocol fees are used to buy OGN and distribute the purchased tokens to xOGN stakers. The project describes these regular rewards as purchased tokens rather than newly created OGN. This makes product activity important to the token’s economic model: fees depend on what the underlying products earn, while each staker’s share also depends on the other xOGN positions. (originprotocol.com)
xOGN also gives participants a role in decisions about fees, product changes, treasury assets, and future strategies. Origin’s governance process allows eligible participants to propose changes and vote on them. Approved contract upgrades pass through a time delay before they can be carried out. In this way, staking combines an economic role with a say in how the protocol develops. (docs.originprotocol.com)
Assumptions
Origin created one billion OGN for its original sale, team, advisor and treasury allocations, then minted 409.7 million more for the OGV merger in May 2024. The chart can show that creation and estimated portions of the published vesting templates, but Origin changed parts of its original release plan, leaving substantial treasury and ecosystem payment history without reliable monthly amounts. OGV conversions and staking rewards distribute OGN that already exists; buyback figures offer only an estimated guide to the timing of rewards. Those transfers must not be added to the creation curve as new tokens.

Allocations
Parts of this allocation with their own release dates are charted as their own allocations; the chart shows the rest here.
Not yet scheduled: 348,648,000 tokens of its parts have no release date yet. The chart shows them as TBD from today, not as unlocked.
Estimated from the last observation onward: about 161,176 per day (4,905,809 per month), the rate between the observations of April 2026 and September 2026.
