Tokenomics & Utility
Supply and original design
NYAN has a stated maximum supply of one billion tokens. At launch in May 2024, the studio said 12% of that supply was circulating. It broke the initial amount into allocations for investors and early contributors, community incentives, market makers, and the ecosystem. Team and adviser allocations had a one-year delay before their planned release began. A maximum supply describes the overall token plan; it does not mean every token became available at launch. The studio presented NYAN as a token for participation in its planned game economy. Proposed uses included fees connected to a player marketplace, converting certain game items into NFTs, asset rentals, competition entry, and access to selected rewards. It also described future votes through which holders could give input on game features. These were proposed game-related uses, and development ended before the full system was completed. Catnip and NYAN had different roles. In the studio’s 2024 economic design, Catnip was a premium in-game currency, while NYAN was the Solana token. Players could earn some Catnip through game activities, and the studio planned to use it for premium items and marketplace purchases. During play-to-airdrop events, game activity could also help participants qualify for NYAN distributions. Assumptions
NYAN has seven published launch allocations totaling one billion tokens, with initial unlocks and purchaser, team, community and ecosystem vesting schedules extending as far as May 2028 under the modeled monthly-payment convention. Four announced play-to-airdrop rounds use part of the community allocation; the fourth round's claim date and the separate Gate promotion's recipient-distribution date are unresolved. The chart can show the published initial amounts and estimated monthly vesting, while keeping airdrop subprograms from being counted twice. The launch mint and present-day supply reconciliation remain unverified because an accessible dated on-chain supply and burn history was not obtained.
