Nillion (NIL) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.

What NIL does
NIL began with one billion tokens at genesis. The published launch allocation set aside 29% for ecosystem growth and research, 20% for community programs, 10% for protocol development, 21% for early backers, and 20% for core contributors. These are allocation categories for the original supply, rather than a limit on all future issuance. (nillion.com)
The token has several practical roles. Developers use NIL to purchase credits for nilDB storage and nilCC computing resources. The developer portal lets them assign those credits to particular nodes. nilAI can accept a card payment through Stripe at the user-facing level, while its underlying computing work still uses resources paid for in NIL. NIL also supports network participation. Blacklight operators stake tokens so they can receive verification tasks and rewards. Nillion’s announced Blacklight model uses newly issued NIL for a yearly reward pool equal to 0.5% of total supply. Its move toward Ethereum-based Covenant nodes adds fees for work performed when conditions are triggered. This links the token’s incentive system to services supplied by network participants. Assumptions
Nillion reports one billion tokens at genesis, divided among ecosystem, community, protocol-development, early-backer and contributor budgets. Binance Launchpool, the CoinList sale, liquidity provision and later Binance campaigns have identifiable budgets, but their recipient-level payment dates or amounts are not fully established. The dated chart can show the genesis mint; the other budgets and historical validator rewards remain listed with their timing gaps rather than plotted as invented monthly releases. Nillion has since migrated from its Cosmos chain, and the available sources do not reconcile its current supply and burns across chains.
- Ecosystem and R&D: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Liquidity provision: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Community: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Binance Launchpool: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- CoinList Community Round: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- Other Binance marketing campaigns: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- Protocol Development: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Early Backers: Only secondary sources describe the timing, so it is not confirmed.
- Core Contributors: Only secondary sources describe the timing, so it is not confirmed.
- PoS validator rewards on nilChain: New issuance depends on network activity, such as staking, so it cannot be dated in advance.
- Blacklight node rewards: New issuance depends on network activity, such as staking, so it cannot be dated in advance.

Description
#533
Nillion is a secure computation network that decentralizes the handling of high-value data similarly to how blockchains manage transactions. It utilizes privacy-enhancing technologies like Multi-Party Computation (MPC) to allow secure storage and computation on data without needing to decrypt it.
