    Unlock Schedule

XDC Network (XDC) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule

The unlock chart above provides a clear visual overview of the XDC Network (XDC) token release schedule, showing when and how tokens enter circulation across investor, team, treasury, and community allocations. Understanding these tokenomics dynamics is critical for evaluating potential supply pressure, inflation impact, and market liquidity over time — key factors that can influence XDC price performance.

Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.

    Tokenomics & Utility

The XDC token powers the network. It pays gas fees, secures consensus via staking, and enables governance and protocol incentives. From genesis, total supply was designed around enterprise sustainability and validator rewards rather than perpetual inflation. Community documents show a fixed total supply of 37.5 billion XDC with allocations across founders/team, ecosystem development, pre-placement, and treasury. (github.com)

Validator security is anchored by staking. To run a validator (masternode), an operator must stake 10,000,000 XDC and meet uptime and hardware requirements. There are up to 108 active validators, and a slashing mechanism removes or penalizes underperforming or malicious nodes. Users who don’t run validators can still participate through community staking solutions that share rewards. (docs.xdc.org)

Because gas fees are low and finality is quick, the XDC token supports high-volume financial workflows. Broadly, “XDC Network tokenomics” aims at three goals: keep transaction costs predictable, compensate validators for security, and make it simple for apps to mint, transfer, and settle assets on-chain. (docs.xdc.org)

    Assumptions

    • Total supply is treated as uncapped for modeling due to ongoing PoS issuance.

Mainnet launched with 37.5B pre-mined supply; validator rewards mint new XDC every epoch and no binding max-supply cap has been formally published post-mainnet.

    • Founders allocation vests at 3% per year from 2019-06-01.

Mainnet-change communication indicates a switch to 3% yearly unlock for founder holdings; no finer-grained cliff/vesting cadence was published.

    • Ecosystem Development releases at 2.5% per year until exhausted.

Mainnet-change note describes a maximum 2.5% annual release rate; we model a full 40-year linear schedule for charting.

    • Treasury releases are modeled linearly over 20 years.

No disclosed vesting; treasury is typically discretionary. Linear modeling allows cumulative supply visualization; actual spend may be lumpy and governance-driven.

    • PoS reward rate modeled at 5,000 XDC per epoch through 2035.

Docs/forums show a fixed per-epoch reward (5,000 XDC) since mainnet. XDC 2.0 discussions propose changes (e.g., per-node tiers); absent finalized parameters, we extend the established epoch reward for projections.

    • Temporary deviations in rewards from block-time changes are not micro-modeled.

October–November 2024 forum reports cite short-term payout shortfalls after the 2.0 upgrade due to slower block times. We keep a monthly linear approximation and note that realized emissions could vary slightly.

    • Manual node incentive top-ups are accounted within Ecosystem/Treasury unlocks, not as separate issuance.

Community/forum posts indicate periodic manual distributions (e.g., standby/validator stipends) from controlled wallets rather than protocol minting; these are treated as spends from pre-mined pools.

    • Fee burns and any application-level burn programs are excluded from unlock totals.

The chart models gross supply releases; on-chain burns reduce circulating/total supply but are not unlock events. Burns may partially offset PoS issuance over time.
