Velodrome Finance (VELO) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.

VELO and veVELO
VELO is the protocol’s transferable ERC-20 token. Locking it creates veVELO, a governance position represented by an ERC-721 non-fungible token, or NFT. The NFT records a holder’s voting power. A longer lock gives more power for the same amount of VELO: the maximum lock lasts four years, while a one-year lock begins with one-quarter of the voting weight of a four-year lock. Voting power normally declines as the unlock date approaches. Velodrome also supports permanent maximum-duration locks. (velodrome.finance)
Voting determines where liquidity-provider emissions go. Voters can receive trading fees and incentives associated with their participation. A project seeking liquidity for its token can offer an incentive to encourage votes for a particular pool. That creates a connection among three groups: traders need usable markets, providers supply the tokens in those markets, and voters direct rewards toward them. (velodrome.finance)
Velodrome began with 400 million VELO. The initial allocation assigned 60% to community participants, 24% to partner protocols, 10% to the Velodrome Foundation, 5% to Optimism, and 1% to foundational liquidity pools. Weekly emissions began after launch and follow a schedule that reduces issuance over time; the V2 launch reset the weekly starting amount under its updated schedule. VELO’s economic role therefore includes both an initial distribution and continuing rewards for protocol activity. (velodrome.finance)
Assumptions
Velodrome began with a documented 400 million VELO allocation for community recipients, partner protocols, the Foundation, Optimism, and genesis liquidity pools. Weekly minting adds liquidity rewards, veVELO rebases, and a contributor share; its rate changed with V2 and can later respond to governance. Partner-grant payment dates and the detailed compensation payments remain unresolved. The supply chart shows the launch amount and estimated growth between dated supply figures, not observed monthly minting or a confirmed future emission schedule.
- Post-launch partner-protocol grants: Releases depend on recipients claiming tokens or on grants being awarded.
- Contributor compensation funded from the initial allocation: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Genesis liquidity pools: The sources give the amount but no release dates.
- Weekly protocol emissions: liquidity rewards, veVELO rebases and contributor share: Releases depend on future governance or treasury decisions.

Allocations
Parts of this allocation with their own release dates are charted as their own allocations; the chart shows the rest here.
Not yet scheduled: 28,000,000 tokens of its parts have no release date yet. The chart shows them as TBD from today, not as unlocked.
Estimated from the last observation onward: about 1,047,911 per day (31,895,777 per month), the rate between the observations of 15 August 2026 and 8 October 2026.
