Theta Network (THETA) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule

As of October 17, 2026, 1 billion of the 1 billion THETA (100.00%) have been released. No further releases are scheduled; the schedule was fully unlocked in January 2019.

The chart shows gross modeled releases of every allocation: vesting unlocks, new issuance and reserve distributions, each allocation counted once. These have different meanings; a scheduled release is not evidence that tokens entered circulation or were sold. Review the coverage, sources and assumptions below.

Tokenomics & Utility

What THETA and TFUEL do

THETA has a fixed supply of one billion tokens. Holders can stake it with Validator or Guardian Nodes to support the blockchain. Those who stake and operate eligible nodes receive a share of newly generated TFUEL. Theta describes THETA as its governance token because staking also connects holders to the protocol’s governance process. (docs.thetatoken.org)

TFUEL is the operational token. It pays transaction fees and smart-contract costs, and it is used for payments linked to edge services. Unlike THETA, TFUEL does not have a fixed supply: five billion existed when the Theta blockchain began, and its supply increases under protocol rules. TFUEL can also be staked to an Elite Edge Node. The two-token design separates the asset used for blockchain security from the one used more often for everyday network activity. (docs.thetatoken.org)

Theta’s wider ecosystem includes TDROP, a separate token connected to some application rewards. For example, Theta Labs has introduced TDROP rebates for EdgeCloud customers who spend on GPU computing. THETA remains the token tied to staking and securing the main blockchain. (blog.thetatoken.org)

Assumptions

Theta created a fixed supply of one billion THETA, first as ERC-20 tokens and later exchanged one-for-one for mainnet THETA; staking rewards are paid in TFUEL instead. The original sale, team, advisor, partner, network-seeding and reserve allocations divide that supply, but only the team's January 2019 unlock has a reported date, and that date is secondary-sourced. Theta also announced an early-supporter airdrop and successive treasury growth rounds, whose exact recipient payments are not established. The chart can show the original supply creation and the estimated team unlock; the other budgets and funding rounds remain listed without invented monthly releases.
