Off The Grid (GUN)

Overview

Off The Grid is a fast, free‑to‑play cyberpunk battle royale built by Gunzilla Games. Under the hood, the game runs on the Off The Grid blockchain, known as GUNZ. This chain powers the in‑game economy and turns select items into NFTs that players can own, trade, and show off. The GUNZ token (ticker: GUN) fuels the network. It pays gas fees on the chain and acts as the core currency for marketplace activity and other services across the ecosystem. Off The Grid is available on PC and consoles, and the team continues to expand platform support to reach more players. The official game site offers trailers, feature descriptions, and download links. (gameoffthegrid.com)

GUNZ began as the tech stack for Off The Grid but has grown into a broader platform for Web3 games. It is an EVM‑compatible Layer‑1 that uses Avalanche technology to deliver fast finality and low fees—both important for real‑time gameplay. The goal is simple: let players truly own digital items and make trading smooth, while keeping the core game fun first. (gunbygunz.com)

As this ecosystem grows, searches like “GUNZ price,” “where to buy GUNZ,” and “Off The Grid tokenomics” have become popular. Below, we explain the history, technology, utility, and future outlook in clear terms so you can understand how the Off The Grid blockchain fits into DeFi, NFTs, and gaming.

History & Team

Gunzilla Games was founded in 2020. The studio announced GUNZ in April 2023 as a gaming‑focused blockchain based on Avalanche subnet tech. Off The Grid uses this chain for its on‑chain economy. The company is led by CEO and co‑founder Vlad Korolov and CSO and co‑founder Alexander Zoll. The creative leadership includes filmmaker Neill Blomkamp as Chief Visionary Officer, author Richard K. Morgan as a narrative lead, and longtime engine engineer Timur Davidenko as CTO. (gunbygunz.com)

The GUNZ mainnet went live on March 31, 2025, alongside a token launch connected to a leading global exchange’s launchpool program. The rollout also included support for cross‑chain activity with Avalanche’s C‑Chain via an official bridge. In July 2025, GUNZ expanded the GUN token to Solana, highlighting a “Too Big for One Chain” multi‑chain plan to reach more players and wallets. (blockchaingamer.biz)

Investors and partners named in public updates include Republic Capital (round lead), Griffin Gaming Partners, Animoca Brands, Jump Crypto, CoinFund, KuCoin Labs, Raptor Group, and the Avalanche Blizzard Fund. In late 2024, asset manager VanEck said its private digital assets fund invested in Gunzilla—another sign of traditional capital paying attention to Web3 gaming. Delphi Ventures has also been highlighted for its role in validating the network. (gamespress.com)

Technology & How It Works

An Avalanche‑powered Layer‑1 for games

GUNZ is an independent, EVM‑compatible Layer‑1 that leverages Avalanche’s subnet framework and Snowman consensus. It is built for high throughput, sub‑second finality, and low fees so in‑game actions feel instant. Smart contract deployment on GUNZ is permissioned, which helps the team maintain a clean, stable developer environment tailored to large games. Developers still write in Solidity and use familiar Ethereum tooling. (gunbygunz.com)

Key chain details (for builders and advanced users) include Chain ID 43419, native gas coin GUN, and the official explorer at gunzscan.io. Users can add the network to MetaMask as a custom chain, and the team notes compatibility with hardware wallets through MetaMask. (gunbygunz.com)

Cross‑chain connectivity

GUNZ supports bridging to Avalanche’s C‑Chain, enabling token and NFT flows between ecosystems. In July 2025, part of the circulating supply expanded to Solana, with bridging powered by LayerZero. This multichain strategy aims to make the GUNZ token easier to access and use across major networks while keeping gameplay smooth on the native chain. (gunbygunz.com)

In‑game economy tools

For Off The Grid, GUNZ provides account services, a marketplace, and minting tools so in‑game items can be created as NFTs and moved or listed as players choose. The game is playable without touching crypto features—NFT ownership is fully optional—but players who want to use the on‑chain economy can opt in anytime. (gunbygvnz.com)

Tokenomics & Utility

What the GUNZ token does

The GUNZ token (ticker: GUN) is both the gas token on the Off The Grid blockchain and the main currency for the broader ecosystem. It powers marketplace activity, enables on‑chain item creation, and supports validator operations. Because GUN is the native gas asset, every on‑chain action—minting an item, listing an NFT, or processing a trade—uses a small amount of GUN. (gunbygunz.com)

Supply design and distribution

Public materials state a fixed total supply of 10 billion GUN. At launch, 4% (400 million GUN) was distributed through a major exchange’s launchpool, and the initial circulating supply was a little over 6% of total. These numbers set a base for the token’s early liquidity, with the rest subject to unlock schedules across ecosystem growth, team, partners, and other buckets. (blockchaingamer.biz)

Buybacks, burns, and validator NFTs

GUNZ uses several levers to balance long‑term utility with a large supply. Public write‑ups describe a buyback model in which a share of Off The Grid’s revenue is allocated to repurchasing GUN on the open market to refill rewards. In addition, when Validator NFTs mint game items, a portion of tokens is burned, introducing a deflationary pressure linked to real activity. While the exact parameters can evolve, the aim is to tie token flow to game demand and creation of new items. (coinrank.io)

In‑game and network utility

• Gas and fees: GUN is the exclusive gas token on the Off The Grid blockchain. (gunbygunz.com)
• Marketplace currency: Used to buy and sell NFTs and digital items. (decrypt.co)
• Validator rewards and operations: Validator infrastructure is fueled by GUN, with rewards aligned to network activity. (gunbygunz.com)
• Cross‑chain access: Bridging connects GUN on GUNZ with assets on Avalanche C‑Chain and, from July 2025, Solana. (gunbygunz.com)

If you are tracking “GUNZ price,” remember that price discovery now happens across multiple chains and venues because of this multi‑chain design. (gunbygunz.com)

Ecosystem & Use Cases

Off The Grid gameplay and ownership

Off The Grid blends PvP and PvE on a sprawling island, with a twist: modular cyberlimbs and richly detailed, customizable weapons that were designed using 3D scanning techniques. Players can enjoy the game free without touching blockchain features, or they can opt into NFT ownership to trade duplicate drops or rare finds. This approach keeps the gameplay front and center while letting power users participate in a player‑driven market. (gameoffthegrid.com)

Within this loop, the Off The Grid blockchain handles item minting, listings, and transfers. The result is an easy bridge between traditional gaming and Web3—players can stay “Web2 only,” or step into the economy when they want to trade, collect, or build a loadout brand. (gunbygvnz.com)

Beyond one title

GUNZ also offers SDKs and white‑label tools so other studios can build on the same rails. The long‑term plan is for multiple games to share infrastructure, wallets, and marketplaces. That would increase utility for GUN and deepen liquidity for in‑game items. (gunbygunz.com)

DeFi, NFTs, and gaming crossover

Because GUNZ is EVM‑compatible, it can connect to DeFi rails on supported chains and exchanges. The platform already anchors an NFT marketplace for Off The Grid, and the move to Solana opens doors for broader liquidity and wallet support. This is why searches for “Off The Grid DeFi, NFTs, gaming” keep growing: GUNZ sits at that intersection by design. (gunbygunz.com)

Where to Buy & Wallets

If you’re wondering where to buy GUNZ, the project lists major centralized exchanges that support the GUN token. The official GUNZ site shows listings on several top exchanges, plus guidance for using both Avalanche‑native and Solana‑native wallets. For self‑custody, you can add the Off The Grid blockchain to MetaMask as a custom network (Chain ID 43419) and connect a hardware wallet. The team also highlights Core (for Avalanche) and Phantom (for Solana) for users who prefer chain‑specific wallets. (gunbygunz.com)

Bridging is available via the official GUNZ bridge to move assets between GUNZ and Avalanche C‑Chain. Solana support began in July 2025, with LayerZero handling the cross‑chain link, expanding access to a wider wallet community. (gunbygunz.com)

Regulatory & Compliance

GUNZ operates as a gaming‑focused blockchain with a permissioned smart contract deployment model. This allows the team to approve who can deploy contracts on the base chain, which helps keep the ecosystem aligned with its game‑centric goals and reduces spammy or unrelated deployments. Exchanges that list the token generally apply their own KYC/AML checks and regional rules for user onboarding. (gunbygunz.com)

Regarding the “Off The Grid halal” question and whether the GUNZ token is “GUNZ shariah compliant,” there is no official public certification or scholarly ruling published by the project. As of now, the website and documentation do not state a shariah review or halal status for Off The Grid or the GUNZ token. (gameoffthegrid.com)

Across major jurisdictions, the project has focused on game content and digital item ownership. It has not publicly announced specific registrations under frameworks like the EU’s MiCA or U.S. commodity/securities classifications. Instead, it works through exchange listings, platform partnerships, and a chain architecture optimized for game assets. The expansion to Solana and the ongoing multi‑chain plan are technical and ecosystem steps rather than regulatory moves, but they do broaden wallet and market access for global users. (gunbygunz.com)

Future Outlook

The Off The Grid blockchain is set up to do more than support one game. With SDKs, marketplace tools, and fast settlement, GUNZ can host multiple titles that share wallets and item liquidity. In the near term, the biggest drivers are likely to be: deeper mainnet integration in Off The Grid on PC and consoles; continued multi‑chain rollout to tap new wallets and communities; and more third‑party studios experimenting with the stack. The recent arrival on Steam for Off The Grid also grows the top of the funnel for new players who may later try the on‑chain economy. (decrypt.co)

From a token perspective, “Off The Grid tokenomics” tie activity to utility. GUN is the only gas token on GUNZ, and public materials describe buyback and burn mechanisms connected to real in‑game actions and marketplace use. As more items are minted and traded, and as more players opt in to ownership, the token sees more real usage across chains and platforms. (gunbygunz.com)

Summary

Off The Grid (GUNZ) blends a high‑energy shooter with real digital ownership on a fast, game‑ready Layer‑1. The GUNZ token powers gas, marketplace trades, and validator activity, and it now lives across multiple chains to meet players where they are. The team’s game‑first approach—optional NFTs, rich customization, and cinematic world‑building—helps bridge Web2 and Web3.
