Overview
Odos was a decentralized finance (DeFi) trading service designed to find efficient ways to swap crypto tokens. It searched across decentralized exchanges and could split a trade among several pools. Its token, ODOS, was created for community governance and a loyalty program.
The trading service and the token now have different paths. The company operating Odos ended its app and API services on July 30, 2026. ODOS remains on the Base blockchain, and the Odos DAO remains separate from the company. Understanding the token therefore requires looking at both the trading system it supported and the services that have since ended. (www6.twstalker.com)

History & Team
From trading tool to DAO
Odos grew out of work associated with Semiotic Labs, a blockchain research team. Its public beta launched in 2022. The goal was to address a common problem in DeFi: token trading was spread across many exchanges and pools, making it hard for a person or app to find an efficient route. Ahmet Ozcan and Yuri Papadin were among the project’s founders. Other founding contributors included Matt Deible and Justin Deible. (medium.com)
As more blockchains and exchanges appeared, Odos expanded beyond simple one-token swaps. It added trades involving several tokens, visual route displays, limit orders, and tools that other apps could use. The project completed a Series A funding round in 2024 with participants including Uniswap Labs Ventures, Orbs, Mantle Ecosystem Fund, PAKA, Curved Ventures, and CE Innovation Capital. Later that year, the Odos DAO and ODOS token introduced a way to connect user rewards with community decisions. (medium.com)
That history reached a turning point in July 2026. The operating company announced that the app would become read-only on July 27 and that its services would end on July 30. It said the DAO would communicate its own plans separately. (www6.twstalker.com)
Technology & How It Works
Finding a route through DeFi
A decentralized exchange uses pools of tokens that traders can swap against. Different pools may offer different results for the same trade. Odos acted as an aggregator: instead of drawing on one pool, its routing system compared possible paths through many liquidity sources.
A path could go directly from one token to another. It could also pass through an intermediate token or divide a large trade among several pools. Odos weighed factors such as the amount of output tokens, pool fees, network costs, and the effect a trade might have on a pool’s exchange rate. The user received a proposed route and quote before approving an on-chain transaction. Odos also used a flow-style diagram to show how tokens would move through the chosen path. (odos.xyz)
Multi-token transactions and other tools
One of Odos’s distinctive features was its ability to handle several input or output tokens in a single transaction. Someone adjusting a portfolio, for example, could exchange a basket of assets instead of placing a separate swap for each one. These transactions were atomic: the steps were designed to complete together under the transaction’s conditions.
The service also offered limit orders, which let users set a target for a trade, and advanced settings for factors such as slippage and preferred liquidity sources. Its APIs brought routing into other wallets and DeFi apps. In 2025, the team reported a Router V3 upgrade with features for developers, including output hooks that could connect a completed swap to another on-chain action. The team also introduced cross-chain market orders. These describe how the Odos trading system worked before the company ended its app and API services. (odos.xyz)
Tokenomics & Utility
Supply and distribution
ODOS is an ERC-20-style token issued on Base, an Ethereum-compatible network. Its maximum supply is 10 billion tokens. The project’s token plan divided that supply among retroactive rewards for earlier users, loyalty incentives, a DAO treasury, investors, core contributors, and team reserves. Its published allocation assigned 25% to loyalty incentives, 11% to retroactive rewards, and 14% to the treasury; the remaining portions went to investors, contributors, and team reserves. Tokens assigned to different groups followed different release schedules. (docs.odos.xyz)
The token had two main intended uses. First, holders could take part in Odos DAO governance by voting on proposals. Second, the loyalty program used ODOS to reward eligible activity. Its design linked benefits to participation and qualifying token balances. Governance and loyalty are connected: voting concerns how a community directs a project, while rewards were meant to encourage people to use its trading tools. (docs.odos.xyz)
The July 2026 service closure changed the setting for those uses. ODOS continues to exist on-chain, but the operating company said it would provide no further product development or maintenance. The DAO remains a separate organization; it has not announced a replacement for the former company-run trading service. (www6.twstalker.com)
Ecosystem & Use Cases
Odos served both people trading through its app and developers building trading features into other products. A wallet could use its routing API to offer swaps. A DeFi app could use its pricing and routing tools, while a liquidity provider could use a zap to make a pool-related transaction simpler. These integrations made Odos part of a wider trading workflow rather than just a page for entering a swap. (odos.xyz)
The project’s 2025 community report described integrations across multiple chains and more than 100 API partners. It also described uses for multi-token swaps, such as turning several wallet holdings into one asset. Those figures show the scope of the ecosystem at that time, before the company shut down its services in July 2026. (medium.com)
For ODOS, the lasting use case is community participation through the separate DAO. Its original loyalty design also explains why the token was created: it tied rewards and governance to a trading service that people had used across many networks. Future DAO activity depends on decisions the DAO makes and announces. (docs.odos.xyz)
Advantages & Challenges
Odos showed how aggregation could make a complicated DeFi task easier to manage. Searching multiple routes, displaying a proposed path, and combining several token exchanges into one transaction gave users choices that a single-pool swap could not offer. Developers could use the same routing tools without building a large exchange-search system themselves. (odos.xyz)
Its model also had limits. A useful route depended on available pools, working software, and the costs of carrying out the transaction. The token plan placed substantial allocations with investors and project contributors, making the spread of voting power an important part of DAO governance. Above all, the closure of the company-run app and API removed the trading tools around which ODOS’s loyalty program had been built. The on-chain token remains, but its earlier trading-related role belongs to the project’s history. (assets-cms.kraken.com)
Where to Buy & Wallets
ODOS is available on Kraken. It can also be traded through Base-based decentralized exchange pools, including pools on Aerodrome and Uniswap. The former Odos app is no longer a trading venue. Exchange access and supported trading pairs depend on the platform and location. (kraken.com)
ODOS can be held in wallets that support Base and ERC-20 tokens, including MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet. The Base token contract address is 0xca73ed1815e5915489570014e024b7ebe65de679. A wallet may detect the token automatically or allow it to be added using that address. Base transactions use ETH for network fees, so the token balance and the funds used to send it are separate. Regulatory & Compliance
Rules for crypto assets and trading services vary by jurisdiction. In the European Union, the Markets in Crypto-Assets framework sets requirements for crypto-asset services. Kraken published an ODOS crypto-asset white paper connected with admission to trading under that framework. In the United Kingdom, Kraken published a separate ODOS disclosure for its UK users. In the United States, the Internal Revenue Service treats digital assets as property for federal tax purposes and requires reporting of relevant transactions. These rules concern activities such as offering services, trading, and tax reporting; they do not depend on the token’s name alone. (esma.europa.eu)
ODOS has no established project-wide Shariah certification, so its halal status remains undetermined. Islamic-finance principles consider matters such as interest, gambling, and excessive uncertainty. A token assessment may also examine how it is used and what rights or benefits it gives holders. Malaysia’s Shariah Advisory Council, for example, sets out conditions for assessing digital tokens within its jurisdiction; that guidance does not give an ODOS-specific ruling. (ifsb.org)
Future Outlook
The ODOS token and DAO still exist on-chain after the company’s July 2026 shutdown. The company said the shutdown did not change the token’s on-chain mechanics, but it also said it would launch no new Odos products. The DAO stated that future updates would come through its own channels and had announced no further plans at the time of its closure statement. (www6.twstalker.com)
The next chapter for ODOS therefore rests with DAO decisions rather than a published company product roadmap. Its past work provides an example of advanced trade routing and multi-token swaps. Whether the remaining community gives the token additional roles will depend on proposals and actions that can be assessed when they occur.
Summary
Odos began as a tool for finding efficient token-swap routes across decentralized finance. ODOS added governance and loyalty rewards to that trading ecosystem. The company ended its app and API services on July 30, 2026, while the token and separate DAO continued to exist on-chain. ODOS’s story now includes both the trading technology Odos developed and the open question of what its community will do next. (odos.xyz)
