Oasis Network (ROSE) Token Unlock & Vesting Schedule
The unlock chart above provides a clear visual overview of the Oasis Network (ROSE) token release schedule, showing when and how tokens enter circulation across investor, team, treasury, and community allocations. Understanding these tokenomics dynamics is critical for evaluating potential supply pressure, inflation impact, and market liquidity over time — key factors that can influence ROSE price performance.
Each color segment in the chart corresponds to a specific allocation group described in the Allocations section below. Underlying assumptions and data models used to reconstruct this schedule are explained in detail under Assumptions, while broader utility insights and token use cases are covered in Tokenomics & Utility.
Tokenomics & Utility
ROSE is a capped‑supply token with a fixed maximum of 10 billion. At mainnet launch, about 1.5 billion were in circulation, with a portion reserved to be released over time. Roughly 2.3 billion ROSE are dedicated to on‑chain staking rewards paid to validators and delegators for securing the network. The token is used for transaction fees, staking, delegation, and governance. (docs.oasis.io)
The network aims for broad participation through proof‑of‑stake:
- Validator set size targets around 120 entities. Stake weight determines who is elected to propose blocks. The minimum stake thresholds to register an entity and validator are modest (on the order of 100 ROSE each), and the unbonding period is ~14 days. Slashing applies to double‑signing. (docs.oasis.io)
- Community governance combines off‑chain discussion with on‑chain votes; node operators vote proportionally to stake. The governance process has supported upgrades, such as adjusting the staking reward schedule. In March 2024, Proposal #4 extended the ~2.5% reward rate until the common pool is exhausted, with the docs updated to reflect the change. (docs.oasis.io)
At a high level, the distribution has included allocations to early backers, core contributors, the Oasis Foundation endowment, community/ecosystem programs, strategic partners/reserves, and a long‑term pool for staking rewards. The Foundation has also published a delegation policy to support reliable validators. (docs.oasis.io)
Assumptions
- Non-staking allocations (Backers, Core Contributors, Foundation Endowment, Strategic Partners & Reserve, Community & Ecosystem) are modeled as linear over 10 years (2020-11-18 to 2030-11-18).
The official docs provide an interactive 10-year Circulation Schedule with CSV/JSON, but direct access to the raw asset was unavailable at compile time; linear monthly modeling preserves total amounts for stacked cumulative charts.
- PoS rewards are modeled as one consolidated allocation with five linear sub-periods whose token totals sum to 2.35B ROSE.
On-chain rewards depend on stake, validator performance, and epoch timing. We approximate issuance with piecewise-linear periods reflecting: high initial APR (20%→16%), a multiyear decline toward ~2%, and post–Proposal #4 constant ~2.5% until the common pool is exhausted (~6 years from 2024-03-27).
- Lockdrop tokens are treated as distinct mechanisms and deducted from Community & Ecosystem to prevent double counting.
Per Oasis and CoinList, ROSE Farm (10M) and ROSE Cultivate (20M) were funded from program/treasury resources; we net −30M from the ecosystem bucket.
- ROSE Farm distribution modeled as a cliff on 2020-12-17.
CoinList specifies ROSE Farm ended 2020-12-15 with distributions completed 1–2 days later; a mid-point of +2 days is used for the cliff date.
- Total supply is capped at 10,000,000,000 ROSE.
