Overview
A network for AI agents
AWE Network is a blockchain-based project built around AI agents: software programs that can carry out tasks, use tools, and interact with other programs. Its name originally stood for Autonomous Worlds Engine, a framework for running persistent digital worlds where agents and people can work together. The project has since expanded its focus to what it calls an “agentic economy,” with tools for agent identity, payments, data, and applications. AWE is the ecosystem’s token. (awenetwork.ai)
One way to understand the network is to picture an agent that needs information from another service. It must find the service, identify itself, pay for access, and use the result. AWE Network builds tools for those steps. It also provides places where agents can operate together, including simulated worlds and applications connected to real-world data. (awenetwork.ai)

History & Team
From STP to AWE
The project began as STP Network in 2019. Its early work centered on coordination tools for blockchain communities, including digital identity and decentralized organization tools. As interest in AI agents grew, the contributors shifted toward systems that could support many agents working in shared environments. In January 2025, a community vote approved the change from STP Network to AWE Network. The AWE name and token launched in May 2025. (awenetwork.ai)
The change also moved the project’s main token from STPT on Ethereum to AWE on Base, a blockchain network compatible with Ethereum applications. Existing STPT holders could convert their tokens at a one-to-one ratio. The project’s August 2026 announcement set September 21, 2026, as the end of that migration window. (awenetwork.ai)
AWE’s development is presented through its core contributors and community governance. The team’s work now covers software for autonomous worlds, agent services, and products that use AI alongside blockchain transactions. Token holders also have a role in decisions about parts of the ecosystem. (awenetwork.ai)
Technology & How It Works
Running worlds and connecting agents
The Autonomous Worlds Engine is a modular framework. Rather than placing every task in one program, it separates work such as managing a world, coordinating agents, handling events, running simulations, and connecting assets to a blockchain. This design lets developers build environments that continue to change as agents respond to new events and to one another. (docs.awenetwork.ai)
Running many agents at once takes careful scheduling. Some actions can happen in parallel, while others depend on an earlier result. AWE’s framework is designed to manage those dependencies and use GPU computing for AI tasks. In a shared world, that might allow one group of agents to hold a discussion while another reacts to an event, with the system keeping track of what happened and when. (awenetwork.ai)
AWE also develops tools for agents outside simulated worlds. Its payment infrastructure uses x402, a method for paying to access online services. On Base, an agent can make a payment as part of requesting a service, without using a checkout page. The network describes support for USDC payments and compatible tokens. For identity, it uses ERC-8004-based records that can connect an agent to a wallet, reputation information, and visible activity. (awenetwork.ai)
Agents need useful abilities as well as identities and payments. AWE’s AWESOME platform helps developers connect them to tools and APIs through Model Context Protocol, or MCP. An API is a way for one piece of software to request information or an action from another. With these connections, an agent can move beyond conversation to complete a workflow, such as collecting data and passing it to another service. (awenetwork.ai)
Tokenomics & Utility
What AWE does
AWE is the network’s governance and ecosystem token. During the 2025 rebrand, the project specified a one-to-one STPT-to-AWE conversion with no increase in supply from the change. Its rebrand proposal described the supply as 1.94 billion tokens. This makes the token’s history closely tied to STPT rather than to a newly launched supply. (awenetwork.ai)
The token has several roles. Holders can use voting power to take part in governance, including decisions about funding and changes to governance rules. AWE has also been used in World.fun for agent-related activity and world participation. The project describes uses tied to simulation costs, agent incentives, and services within individual worlds. These uses can differ from one application to another. (awenetwork.ai)
Voting requires delegation. A holder can delegate voting power to their own wallet to vote directly, or to another participant who votes on their behalf. Delegation changes who can use the voting power; the tokens remain in the holder’s wallet. The governance process combines community discussion with offchain and onchain votes, depending on the kind of proposal. (docs.awenetwork.ai)
Ecosystem & Use Cases
Worlds, services, and data
World.fun is AWE’s platform for discovering and launching autonomous worlds. Its worlds give agents shared settings in which to act, respond, and interact with people. Examples developed in the ecosystem include Genesis AI Town, an experiment in agent-led social and civic activity, and AI Shark Tank, an entertainment experience built around AI judges. World.fun also provides a route for creators to propose and launch new worlds. (awenetwork.ai)
The ecosystem reaches beyond digital worlds. AgentBeat displays information about agent activity and identity. AWE’s agent-service tools support programs that can call other tools or offer services in return for payment. Together, these products address a basic question for an agent economy: how can programs identify one another, do useful work, and record their interactions? (awenetwork.ai)
Two other products show the project’s wider direction. Realyse organizes trading-card market observations from onchain and offchain sources into structured asset information. Its aim is to make that data readable by applications and AI agents. Polyvaults lets users create or explore indexes of prediction markets; AI helps find markets that match a stated idea, while vaults handle the steps involved in putting an index into operation. These are different applications built around AWE’s broader themes of data and automated action. (docs.awenetwork.ai)
Advantages & Challenges
A broad set of connected tools
AWE’s main strength is the range of problems it addresses in one ecosystem. Identity helps identify an agent; payment tools let it access a service; tool connections let it perform a task; and worlds give agents a shared place to interact. The modular engine also gives developers separate building blocks for different kinds of applications. (awenetwork.ai)
That breadth creates a practical challenge. A world builder, a data developer, and someone creating an agent service may each need different parts of the network. Making those parts work smoothly together requires clear tools and a useful experience for each group. The project’s growth also depends on people creating applications that keep using those tools after an initial launch. AWE’s shift from STP shows how its focus has evolved; its newer products give that direction concrete forms. (awenetwork.ai)
Where to Buy & Wallets
Exchanges and Base storage
AWE is available on Coinbase, Binance, Upbit, Bithumb, and Gate. Exchange access and available purchase methods depend on a user’s location and the platform. AWE is a Base-network token, so transfers to a personal wallet use a Base-compatible receiving address. (awenetwork.ai)
MetaMask supports Base and can display tokens held on that network. A holder can add a token manually when it does not appear automatically. AWE’s project documentation lists its Base token contract, which identifies the token within compatible wallets and applications. Personal wallets can also be used to connect to the network’s governance tools and delegate voting power. (support.metamask.io)
Regulatory & Compliance
Legal and religious considerations
AWE’s legal treatment depends on the activity and jurisdiction involved. In the United States, the Securities and Exchange Commission has published guidance on how federal securities laws apply to different crypto assets and transactions. In the European Union, the Markets in Crypto-Assets framework sets authorization rules for businesses that provide crypto-asset services. Those broad rules address different questions from whether an individual AWE application may operate in a particular location. (sec.gov)
AWE does not have an established token-specific Shariah-compliance status in the Malaysian Securities Commission’s published list of tradeable digital assets and their Shariah status. The commission’s framework assesses digital assets under defined conditions. An assessment of AWE would need to consider the token’s rights and uses, as well as relevant applications in its ecosystem, including prediction-market products. (sc.com.my)
Future Outlook
Building on the agent economy
AWE’s direction links several layers: the infrastructure that lets agents identify and pay one another, the data they can use, and the applications where they can act. World.fun remains a setting for shared agent experiences, while Realyse and Polyvaults show how the project is applying its work to asset information and structured market tools. The important question for its development is how well these parts serve developers and users together. (awenetwork.ai)
Its governance structure gives token holders a way to influence parts of that path. As new worlds and services are built, AWE’s role will be shaped by how those applications use the token and how the community makes decisions about the network. (docs.awenetwork.ai)
Summary
AWE in context
AWE Network grew from STP’s coordination tools into an ecosystem for AI agents, autonomous worlds, payments, and applications. Its Base-network token supports governance and activity across parts of that ecosystem. The project’s distinctive idea is to give agents more than a place to run: it aims to give them ways to identify themselves, use services, exchange value, and work alongside people. (awenetwork.ai)
